Omi Balenciaga

Portrait

N’yomi Stewart—or Omi Unbothered Balenciaga—is one of the standout Femme Queen performers of our generation, slowly but surely etching her name alongside the greats we all love and look up to. Introduced through the Iconic House of Juicy Couture, she now sits as the New York City Mother of the House of Unbothered Cartier. With a talent demanding of our undivided attention, she continues to stamp herself as one to watch.

Off the floor, N’yomi is an interdisciplinary artist and community organizer, creating work centred around her trans experience through text, movement, and imagination.

For Omi, Ballroom is a sanctuary. In a world that often denies queer people the validation they deserve, Ballroom is a powerful counterpoint: a space of recognition, praise, and affirmation that celebrates individuality and authenticity.

Queer-led sex education is essential because so many of us grow up without the conversations we need. Too often, these discussions are met with fear, dismissal, or ignorance—and it’s important we learn from people who have walked in similar shoes.

Ballroom is an incredible vessel because it brings so many young, curious people together. As it moves further into mainstream culture, it’s critical we bring education with us—education that reflects who we are, addresses what impacts us, and strengthens our community.

Ballroom is one of the few spaces where I don’t have to explain myself. It’s this immediate sense of recognition, acceptance, and love.
